WHIMSY
WHIMSY
Whimsy is a little off our well-regulated center, a step or two to the side of reality. She was the beginning sketch for Fly Away Home, just a little lump of clay that wouldn't leave me alone. This work (actually more playing around than work) may give some insight into origins of other pieces....the sketch in soft three-dimension that invites contemplation for further examination by repositioning. You can readily see I chose to avoid detail. I felt it would overburden the ges¬ture. If you are familiar with the "Mariposa" series you already know of my feelings for compositions with butterflies and children, how interactions between the two have provided brief but beautiful moments that led to heart-held memories. The edition size is my largest to date and the scale is my smallest...
